A: 5 Eagles Leadership exists to help leaders in every industry lead better and live a more fruitful life. I retired after spending three decades in the military and upon reflection I figured out that the best part of being a senior leader was coaching and mentoring leaders and making organizations better.

So I started a company to do that.

A: Busy leaders make lots of sacrifices. Self care is often one of the first things to go.

While it’s admirable to put your people and your organization first, it’s often a tragic mistake. Leaders have to prioritize taking care of themselves — if they don’t take care of themselves they can’t take care of others.

I coach my clients to develop daily, weekly, monthly, and annual habits that emphasize rejuvenating and reenergizing.

My routine: Daily: meditation, vagus nerve stimulation, workouts, and gratitude journaling. Weekly: long reflective walks (on the beach if possible), birding Monthly: go to a museum - by myself. Find something that captures my attention or makes me wonder and spend quiet time in contemplation. Annually: take my family on a trip. No work allowed. At least 10 days.

A: I most identify with the Third Eye Chakra (Ajna). I often recognize patterns quickly and have a sense about people and situations that I can't logically explain. This intuitive insight has guided my leadership approach and I even wrote a book called "Leadership Insight" about seeing the world differently and challenging the way we think.

When I learned that dark chocolate supports the third eye chakra—the energy center associated with intuition—I immediately found the perfect excuse to indulge in more of it.

My ability to see beneath the surface and perceive what others miss has become my an great asset, both professionally and personally.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
